Born and raised in Southern California Julie’s passion for design started at a young age helping her father in the woodshop creating and painting various items made from wood. Julie Ann Design was created in 1996 as an art based business. Learning how to build furniture from her talented father, a master craftsman, she began building and painting small hand made benches in her mid 20’s. Realizing her talent can evolve into something more, Julie quit her job as a Merchandiser at Saks Fifth Avenue and followed her passion of design and art. Her business rapidly grew from hand painted benches to murals for Country Clubs and Cities. As Julie’s business and talents grew, she became intrigued by Italian Plastering. She dedicated herself to learning the history and technique of Italian Plasters & Faux finishing at the Seattle Architectural Finishing Studio in Seattle, WA. Bringing her newly developed skills home, she began creating Marmorino, Venetian, Tuscany, and Faux finishes in homes throughout prominent country clubs including The Hideaway, Big Horn, The Quarry, and many more communities throughout the Coachella Valley and Orange County. After seeing her talents, many Country Clubs, Hotels and Restaurants including The Miramonte, The Nest, Andalusia, The Hideaway, Big Horn, PGA West hired her for Italian Finishes, Art, and design. Today, Julie is indulged in many facets of “design”; Interior Design, Art in Public Places, fine art, faux finishes & plasters, interior design, store merchandising, accessory design and design consulting. Julie’s is published in many design publications and newspapers including Desert Homes Magazine, she has painted 9 signal light boxes for the City of La Quinta. Julie continues having a blast creating art and regularly dedicates her time to charity events by helping children create their own pieces of art.  She can often be found at Sacred Heart School elbows deep in paint with children. She currently resides in Palm Desert, CA with her two wonderful children and chocolate lab.
